i am slowly beginning to make connections in the work i have been doing. i am itching to get into the studio and work today but am against a deadline for writing. so- i'm doing what every good graduate student does. i'm blogging as a break.

the paper is based on the framing and manipulationi (however much i love it) of the Oprah Winfrey show. it relates somewhat formally to the shark stuff- the way in which i go about creating works (intense scrutiny) and also conceptually- the loneliness of the oprah fan, watching her tv to feel connected to others. it might be a reach. but i'm hoping derrida sheads more light ont this.

a good fort, or a wall...

does it all come down to a good fort as my last blog insisted? felix and i just watched Hotel Rwanda. It makes my daily task of painting into nothing- insignificant. i wish i could remember who said it- it might have been richter- who said that it is not the job of painters to think about politics. but he also said that if you do not believe that painting can save the world then you should quit. that simple. it's too difficult to do- if you do not believe you can change the world with it then quit. what does it mena to change the world? is it possible to be effective through personal relationships? through building a fort with your nephew? through telling your spouse how much they matter to you?

i do not know.
